Caregiving Beginnings

Nearly a whole year ago, I started as a caregiver for my Granny Ruth.

It was listening to her stories,
laughing and smiling over little things,
flipping through old photo albums.
It was getting up in the
middle of the night to try
and make her comfortable again,
waking up a few hours later to
give her breakfast and medicine,
and then laying back down to try
and catch a few extra Z's.
*Though, I admit, part of my sleep deprivation is Hallmark's fault. ;)*

Throughout the day, watching nurses and visitors come and go, realizing how much a part she was of people's lives.

Caregiving consists of many different tasks, but when you experience the joy of being able to care for someone, to make them just that much more comfortable,  and put a smile on their face, it's well worth it.

It's ALWAYS well worth it, when you can give back to someone who has given so much of themselves.

My first caregiving experience was a blessing, and I hope I can continue helping others in this area.

I'm glad Granny Ruth was my first.
